It is noticeable that electrical power is still picked up from power lines on the ground (the centre two in the image, but transferring to outside the rails beyond the platform) in this quarter of the London commuter belt, rather than from above. The next station is at Welling. Most trains run to Dartford or Gillingham.

Dist:0.8km northeast<br/>The Bexleyheath line was the last to open of the three railway routes from London to Dartford. Trains first ran on 1 May 1895, and for many years, traffic was light. Nowadays, however, the line is very heavily used, so that Welling station, although modernised, has retained most of its buildings.

Dist:1.0km west<br/>This stretch of road was one long rush hour traffic jam twice a day until the Rochester Way Relief Road was opened in the 1980s. This road junction is at the southern edge of Oxleas Woods, and ancient woodland that's been saved from the road builders by dedicated campaigners.
