Dist:0.1km<br/>The Ordnance Survey map of 1875 shows a cricket ground in this location, with the officers' quarters to the north of it, so it probably formed part of the original design of the garrison. This is the pavilion in the south-east corner of the ground. As far as I can ascertain from the internet this is currently the home ground of the Ekco Monarchs & Trojans III and IV teams.

Dist:0.2km<br/>The various military sites at Shoeburyness were linked by a light railway system whose rolling stock was kept and maintained at this shed built around 1860. Though derelict for quite some time, it is currently undergoing refurbishment.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Three blocks of married officers' quarters were built along the north side of The Terrace, overlooking the cricket ground, between 1866 and 1871. They were known as Blocks A to G. One of them contained the surgeon's house, and the block in the photograph is the central Block C to E. All the Blocks are Grade II Listed Buildings. Following the closure of the garrison in the 1980s they have subsequently been converted into residential properties.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Through the arch is the parade ground and the old barracks, now converted, as is much of the garrison, to generally up-market civilian dwellings. Some military relics such as this arch and clock tower remain together with some artistically scattered cannons on new brick plinths. The rather distinguished chapel has however become a site sales office.
