Dist:0.3km<br/>This is Lock 72 according to the British Waterways numbering but Lock 2 if you just number historically for the Erewash Canal. This is because this is an extension of the Leicester Branch of the Grand Union Canal and the modern numbering is from the junction with the main Grand Union. This shows the lock empty after a boat has gone down stream towards the River Trent. Compare with [[550866]] which shows the lock full after a boat has passed up stream.

Dist:0.3km<br/>A bucolic spot on the Erewash Canal which was originally built to give an outlet for coal mined in the Erewash Valley to the River Trent. It is no longer used commercially, but is navigable by pleasure craft.

Dist:0.3km<br/>A lock on the Erewash Canal which runs northwards from the River Trent at Trentlock, near Long Eaton, to Langley Mill through the Erewash Valley. Much of the route is industrial but there are attractive stretches such as here.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The Erewash Canal curves sharply to the right just north of Shipley Lock before crossing over the River Erewash. Severn Trent Water has provided this rather oversized information notice describing its efforts to improve the quality of the river - this is perhaps somewhat confusing as it stands adjacent to the canal.
