Dist:0.2km<br/>Council houses built in the 1920's. Named after Dr. Grossart who wrote the 'History of the Parish of Shotts' published in 1880. Many of the tenants have taken up the option of 'right to buy'.

Dist:0.3km<br/>This footbridge was erected in the late 1950's when the A8, the main Glasgow to Edinburgh road passed through the village. The M8 was built to the north of the village and opened in 1967.

Dist:0.3km<br/>A relic from the days when this road was the 3 lane A8 - the main road between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The bridge is still required as the road remains busy even though now replaced by a motorway.

Dist:0.6km<br/>The width of the road (formerly the A8) and the grass verge have not changed in my memory i.e. since the 1950's. The original plan may have been for a future dual carriageway but this never happened. The verge was used as a storage area during World War II with the dual purpose of preventing enemy aircraft landing.
