Dist:0.2km<br/>Ryder's Green Junction is the parting of the ways as the Walsall Canal disappears away to the left down the eight lock Ryder's Green flight. The Wednesbury Old Canal was built by James Brindley opening in 1769. The Walsall Canal opened in 1786. The Wednesbury Old Canal terminates at the Black Country Spine Road leaving the unconnected Ridgeacre Branch.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Top lock of a flight of eight on the Walsall Canal, looking SE. Ryders Green Junction lies above the lock, where the Ridgeacre Branch heads N and then NE, originally connecting to several other branches, now almost obliterated, which served works and collieries.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Robinson Brothers Ltd based here in West Bromwich claimed to be the world's largest manufacturer of Cyclohexane-1,3-dione among a host of other organic chemicals. I used the nearby road on a regular basis but it was always wise to close all the air-vents before passing the works.
