Dist:0.5km<br/>The advertising jargon says that this is a "Georgian home built for the pleasures of good living" and has a history that goes back to the 11th century. The present Hall dates mainly from the early 18th century although the Baronial Hall was built in 1524. Standing in extensive formal gardens in rural surroundings, the buildings have now been restored to create a renowned Country House Hotel with exceptional facilities but I wonder how many of the guests realise that not so very long ago, Risley Hall was a remand home for young offenders.

Dist:0.6km<br/>All Saints Church was built by the Willoughby family (1350) who also founded a free school. Apparently it is rarity in that it belongs to a period when most churches were being pulled down rather than being built. The War Memorial that stands by the gates to the church obviously dates from the 20th century. Risley is a long thin village with most properties lying either side of the main road. With the Village Hall standing one side of the church and the school on the other, I suppose this is the closest you can get to the village "centre".

Dist:0.7km<br/>This lovely old house (there is a date of MDCCVI - 1706 - carved into the stone above the door) stands next to the church and was presumably the squire's house in times past (it looks a little bit excessive for a vicarage).
