Dist:0.4km<br/>Built in the 20's from funds raised by the workers themselves, this was once an important focus of local community and cultural life It provided a venue for visiting speakers, political debate, educational and recreational activities as well as source of mutual support during strikes. Nowadays it is largely a drinking club but the top floor has been turned into a small mining museum which is well worth visiting.

Dist:0.4km<br/>The local HQs of Plaid Cymru (Party of Wales) and Llafur (Labour) are separated by a single office in Wind Street, Ammanford/Rhydaman. There is an irony in this since the former won the seat from the latter's longstanding grip in the general election of 1999 and still holds it.

Dist:0.4km<br/>View apparently NW, near Tirydail station, on Llandilo - Pontadulais/Llanelly (ex-GW&LNW) section of the Central Wales Line, with the 'Mountain' Branch to many other collieries going to the left. The locomotive is 'modern' GW-design '1600' class 0-6-0T No. 1655 (built 1/55, withdrawn 7/65).

Dist:0.4km<br/>Originally built in the early 1930's, with money raised by public subscription, as a cinema, its ornate interior decor with elaborate plaster moulding has recently been beautifully refurbished and it now operates as a venue for live entertainment. It is tucked away behind the Miners Welfare Club of which it was once part.
