Dist:0.4km<br/>The signal box and waiting room have been converted into a houses. There are also a number of former railway workers houses very close by. Trains to the left followed the Border Counties Railway through Kielder to Riccarton Junction and then Hawick and Edinburgh. Trains to the right followed the Wannie Line (Wansbeck Railway) to West Woodburn, Scots Gap and either Morpeth or Rothbury.

Dist:0.6km<br/>Said to be built by Canadian Airmen during World War 2 in exchange for fishing rights which were granted by the Duke of Northumberland. On one of our many visits to the picnic table on the riverside of the lodge we saw the present Duke catch a salmon which he put back in the river because "it was coloured". Evidently last year's fish! The lodge has two bedrooms.

Dist:0.7km<br/>The Wansbeck Railway, affectionately known as the "Wannie line", ran from Morpeth to Redesmouth. The line was opened in 1865, closed in 1966. Here the line is seen a short way from its junction with the Border Counties Railway at the officially mis-spelled Reedsmouth Junction.

Dist:0.8km<br/>Bridge across the River Rede just above its confluence with the River North Tyne. The old bridge abutment just to the right of the far end of the bridge is part of the old Border Counties Railway from Hexham to Riccarton Junction. The railway was opened in 1861, passenger services were discontinued in 1956 and this section of the line finally closed in 1963.
