Dist:0.3km<br/>Preserved watermill near Sutton Coldfield. This is a view of the stone floor with two sets of stones, one unclothed, a stone crane and a block and tackle. This was my only visit here to date.

Dist:0.3km<br/>A view of the aspirator, an American built machine originally from Rock Mills, Leamington Spa. Grain from the farm is fed into the machine, a fan blows off the lighter chaff, light seeds and broken grain. This is blown into the sacks to the right. The sacks are original railway sacks. Examples include LMS, LNER and BR. The cleaned grain falls into the Winnower (1880) for sieving and further refinement ready for milling.

Dist:0.3km<br/>I was disappointed to find that this preserved watermill was not open during National Mills Weekend - this did not coincide with its normal opening pattern of the second Sunday in each month.

Dist:0.3km<br/>A view of the bevel gear system, a set up like that at Stainsby mill [[[2284152]]]. The stones nuts are directily connected to the runner stones on the floor above, these being run via the horizontal gears on the layshaft. Only one is in action today (behind this one). There is no governor at this mill. The teeth as made of apple wood, this minimised noise, fire risk due to sparks and the risk of expensive repairs. If the stones ran dry the teeth would break instead of any shafts or expensive iron parts.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The sack hoist is run via a belt off the diesel engine. When the miller pulls on a rope the two grooved wheels to the left engage and thus hoist the sack up the floors.
