Dist:0.7km<br/>Last of a series of lighthouses that were constructed along this coast over 150 years ago. Now redundant, it has been saved by the campaigning of Rampside residents - I thought it looked like an upturned pencil, any other suggestions?

Dist:0.7km<br/>Built between 1850 and 1870. The unpainted tower is built with red and light yellow bricks, giving at a distance the appearance of vertical red and white stripes (one white stripe on each of the four faces). This unusual tower, known locally as The Needle, is the only survivor of 13 range lights built on the approaches to Rampside and Barrow in the 1850-1870 period.

Dist:0.8km<br/>The view looks north east from the root of Foulnay Island towards Rampside. The map calls them "Sands" but some kind of green vegetation has covered them at this point. The water channels have been filled by seawater, as the photograph was taken at high tide.
