Dist:0.1km<br/>See [[757793]]. This is looking northwards towards the same abutments. Behind is seen the girder bridge carrying Spring Lane. There is some confusion over nomenclature of the two former rail bridges and the lane bridge very close together here. I have encountered the name 'Whittaker Bridge' used for each of the three. I suggest, however, that it is the still-existing bridge carrying Spring Lane that is the 'real' Whittaker Bridge - after all, it did precede in time the railway bridges.

Dist:0.1km<br/>Looking south. This former bridge was on the line between Radcliffe(C) and Bolton, which was in use for passenger trains as late as 1970. If Metrolink has been taken into Bolton, as was proposed at one stage, it would have crossed the canal here.

It formed the public administrative centre for the district until, under the Local Government Act 1972 the town's urban district status was abolished, and Radcliffe became, and has been since 1 April 1974,an unparished area of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury. The building remained unoccupied for many years and now it is used as private accommodation
