Putney Vale - Clubs, Groups and Societies in the Area
This a directory of clubs and associations in the Putney Vale area.
We list any local groups that would be of interest to the Putney Vale community. For example, if you know of an art club, running club, Scout troop or Putney Vale local history society, please submit it to our directory.
Note: if your club/group is based somewhere other than Putney Vale, please add it on the page for the relevant place.
Southfields Theatre Group
Southfields Theatre Group (STG) was formed in 2008 by like-minded Southfields SW19 residents who felt there was an amateur dramatics gap to fill in the village.
The group has now expanded to twenty-five active members. Some are budding actors, some are evergreen thespians. Others play vital production and organisational roles, providing sets and lights, technical, visual and written creativity, costumes and props, as well as pulling in good audiences and balancing the books.
Reflecting the local community's interests, STG's repertoire combines carefully chosen plays with sharp revues and riotous pantos. We also hold drama workshops, classes in acting techniques, play-readings and theatre excursions.
Venues include The Earl Spencer on Merton Road, St Barnabas Church, and St Michael's School. Most rehearsals are at the Aspire Centre, Southfields Community College.
STG productions
2009 ‘Forty’, ‘Cinderella’
2010 ‘Murder in Company’, ‘1001 Arabian Nights’, ‘Hang out the Flags’ – a revue
2011 ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarves’, ‘RolePlay’, a Wandsworth Revue
Run Club Wimbledon Park
Fun, coached group running sessions for all levels in Wimbledon Park.
We attract runners and non-runners alike from the Earlsfield/Southfield/SW19 area for fun sessions in the park every week.
Wimbledon Book Club
The Wimbledon Book club meets in central Wimbledon, Merton South West London SW19, on the first and third Mondays of the month.
The Wimbledon Book club usually read contemporary fiction paperbacks but being an adventurous bunch we sometimes move out of our comfort zone to read something different. This may include Romantic Fiction, Science Fiction, Literary Classics, Graphic Novels, Family Sagas, Pulp Fiction, Crime Fiction, Current Affairs or anything else that helps us become 'Well Read'.
Unlike some book clubs we don't have our books chosen by a marketing department, TV Chat Show or a Book Shop. Our book choice's are always about having a good read and a good nights discussion, not sales.
