Dist:0.3km<br/>Praze is the largest village in the Parish of Crowan and its size is mainly due to the mining activity in the surrounding area.

Dist:0.3km<br/>This stonework on either side of the road is all that remains of a bridge which used to carry the Helston Branch Line over the road. Passenger services were stopped in 1962 and the line finally closed in 1964 as part of the Beeching cuts.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Pronounced "Praise", the name of this village stems from words meaning meadow (praze) and culvert (beeble). The culverted stream to which this refers runs underneath the road pictured here, no longer a meadow. This photograph was taken in October on a typically dank day with the hill-fog down across the land.

Dist:0.4km<br/>The purpose-built surgery opened in September 2010. The former surgery (a much smaller building) is on the opposite side of the road and is empty at present.

Dist:0.4km<br/>In my view one of the most distinctive features of the village of Praze-an-Beeble are the terraces of granite built houses which run along both sides of the main street.

Dist:0.5km<br/>This was photographed on the eastern side of Praze-an-Beeble where a footpath meets a byway. I don't know whether you would call this a stile or a cattle grid, either way it performs the same function, it keeps large farm animals in the field while letting people through. The metal pole across the top is a more recent addition and probably serves to bar the way to two wheeled vehicles.

Dist:0.5km<br/>The Clock House, Clowance Estate. This estate is now a time-share location, having a number of A-frame apartments as well as one-bedroomed flats in the Clock House. This building is just in square SW6335, but the photo is taken from the bridleway running E-W across square SW6334.
