Dist:0.3km<br/>Taken from the Poynings Road exit and looking down West Road, the A281, which then turns north following the route of the old coach road from Brighton to Henfield. West Road was built in the second decade of the 19th century to link the newly constructed section of the London-Brighton turnpike at Pyecombe with the older coaching route.

The southern exit is Saddlescombe Road, the old London-Brighton coaching route, that heads over the Dyke towards Brighton, out of shot heading west is the lane to Poynings village. Newtimber Hill provides the backdrop.
