At the junction with High Street are two old flint buildings that have been converted to residential use, the Old Stables to the right and the Old Barn to the left.

At the eastern end of High Street and built around 1540 for the Blaker family whose descendants lived in the house until 1869.

Dist:0.1km<br/>Situated on the bend towards the top of High Street is Kemps, a grade II listed building is the oldest habitable house in Portslade, built c1580 probably by the Blaker’s and extended c1650. It remained as the Blaker family home till at least 1854 when Cordelia’s will stated it be sold and divided up between the rest of the siblings. The property built as a detached farmhouse is now 2 dwellings.

Dist:0.1km<br/>Drove Road heads past the rear of the buildings in High Street and was most likely used as a route for moving livestock past the village towards downland pastures. The strange looking building is a builders merchants though the gantry seems to have been converted into more offices.

Dist:0.1km<br/>Built in 1881 as a brewery its location due to a natural spring running under the building. The discolouration of the bricks on the top story indicates that this level was added later to the original building. The brewery remained opened until 1939 when it was taken over and used by the Canadian Army as a base during World War Two. In 1947 it was purchased by Le Carbone a French electrical specialist company who have remained on the site ever since. The building is on the junction of High Street and South Street.
