Until the Local Government reorganisation of 1974, this was Pontefract Town Hall. The ground floor window to the left of the main door was the Mayor's Parlour. When the Town ceased to have its own Borough Council and Mayor in 1974, the Town Hall became the Register Office on the ground floor and upstairs are the town Assembly Rooms, used for functions, plays, pantomimes etc.

Standing in Woolmarket, Pontefract, outside the Windmill pub, looking south east, Thomas Cook travel agency is on Bridge Street. The Street turning off to the right after Thomas Cooks is Market Place. The Street dead ahead is Gillygate . The building with the arches is the Old Town Hall.

This pub has had many identities, Antix being the latest. Formerly The White Swan, the Holywood Bar, the Tap & Spile amongst other names.

These gates were originally the entrance to Kings School, Pontefract, before the new school premises were built off Ackworth Road. The school then became the Pontefract Girls Secondary School. After that school closed dowm the site was cleared and Morrisons Supermarket built on it. The gates are a listed building and are now used as office accommodation.

This is a view of the rear entrance to Pontefract bus station taken from the southern end of Skinner Lane. The houses on the right of the picture are on Finkle Street, the car turning left is entering Northgate and central behind the bus station are Horsefair Flats.
