I suppose it was at one time. One of the passages to Peterborough Cathedral. For the Bench mark spotters amongst us there is a cut mark on the bottom right hand course of stones.

The Almoners Hall is a historic building situated at the southern end of the cathedral precinct. It was restored in the last ten years.

These arcades formed part of the conventual buildings of the former Benedictine abbey; possible the infirmary. At some stage many of the buildings have been adapted for residences, some of which are now occupied by small businesses.

The route to the gents toilets is barred twice. To be fair the toilet facility has been spruced up with a new entrance and a pay to pee introduced for the male side which comes as a bit of a shock. The facility is near the Car Haven parking area.

Part of the monastic precinct of Peterborough Abbey. The almoner would provide assistance to the needy and pilgrims visiting the abbey.

What's more it's mid morning and it's close to the shops. Cones across the entrance suggest maintenance works are about to take place. Planing the speed bumps off would be a good move.

Pyracantha berries surround this C19 memorial in Bishop's Road Gardens, which was moved here in 1963 from the Cathedral Square.

Later residences have been built in amongst the ruins of the former abbey buildings, some of which are now used by small businesses. I have been unable to find out what these arcades belonged to, although from their position relative to the church this may have been the Infirmary hall.
