Dist:0.4km north<br/>This very tall mast stands on the eastern end of the Welsh Preseli Hills. The mast belongs to Arqiva and is one of the tallest masts in Wales at over 750-feet. This mast is the main station TV-Transmitter for this regional area. VHF-Radio services come from another tall mast not so far away called Haverfordwest. I am also amazed with how long this website has been operative no one has struck this landmark off the list.

Dist:1.0km south<br/>In less polluted times, this was a common view: on the horizon is Llanmadoc Hill (centre) at SS435925 and Rhossili Down (right) at SS419895, both in the Gower Peninsula, 45 km away.

Dist:1.1km west<br/>From here, the bridleway runs south, then southwest, before skirting round the side of Foel Dyrch to the slate quarry in [[SN1529]].

Dist:1.1km northwest<br/>The bridleway seems to have moved from the position marked on the map, and now follows this field edge up to the saddle between the two hills. It's easier to ride up this, than to fight a way across the rough grazing on the right, that's a fact.

Dist:1.2km west<br/>There is nothing except a sheepfold marked on the bwlch between Foel Dyrch and Crugiau Dwy, but there's no doubt that this standing stone is there. Whether it's as old as so many others in the Preseli Hills is open to question. The TV mast in the background is clearly a modern addition to the landscape, and serves a large area of this part of Pembrokeshire.

Dist:1.6km southwest<br/>Agricultural or quarry-related building? My personal view is that it's a bit too far from the slate quarry to have been part of the works for that, so more probably the ruin of a farm worker's cottage. The only access is along the bridleway in either direction.

Dist:1.6km southwest<br/>Based on the evidence of this moss- and grass-covered drystone wall, this was probably once a smallholding. The whole place has a rather ghostly feel to it now, especially as the sun sets. Update: (Information from Mike Hurley) The 1901 Census records two people in residence here at the smallholding known as 'Fronhaul' - a 50 year old farmer called Mary Adams, and her 19 year old son Owen.
