Dist:0.3km<br/>This is the ruin of the main house at Court Farm, as seen from the field gate just up the road. The roof is missing and the remains are compromised by well established trees. Under all that ivy there must be at least one of the rumoured seven chimneys that used to make the house an unmistakable landmark for sea navigation. Dist:0.4km<br/>The present building was probably constructed between the 13th and 15th centuries. Pembrey (or Penbre) Church was a landmark for shipping in the hazardous Burry Estuary, where many came to grief on the Cefn Sidan sands. Over 200 sailors are buried in the churchyard. The circular structure outside the churchyard wall is a cattle pound. This was used to impound stray cattle, which their owners could reclaim after paying a fee. (This description paraphrased from the useful information board by the church gate).

Dist:1.2km north<br/>A curious sight on this road's corner - a derelict bus shelter. Obviously no longer in use as Carmarthenshire has long since replaced this metal style of shelter with smart plastic ones and it has no timetables attached.
