SUN 20TH JUL, 2008 8.00pm

David Munyon is a "topical writer" much like many of the folk legends and roots artists of today's acoustic tradition. He's a writer, performer, painter, artist, poet, peace activist, mystic and farmer. In Alabama he lives in a motor home which reputedly was previously owned by Hank Williams. After a decade and a half hustling in Nashville he finally released his debut album in 1990. 'Code Name Jumper' featured musicians of the calibre of Leland Sklar and Al Perkins. Later he recorded several albums for the German based label Glitterhouse and Bob Harris started to play his songs regularly on Radio 2 (he also had a track released on one of Bob's Americana compilation CDs). David's latest album 'Some Songs For Mary' has been recently released in the UK. David's songs have been covered by the likes of Eric Burdon, Rick Travino, and Jennifer Warnes.

Lithography with Colin Gale

Mon, Jul 28
Gainsborough's House
Sudbury
Times: Open:
Monday to Saturday 10am-5pm;

Closed:
Sundays (including Bank Holiday weekends),
Good Friday
Between 23rd December and 2nd January

Lithography is probably the closest printmaking technique to painting and drawing in terms of its mark-making and directness. The materials used and their application in lithography will have a very familiar feel to any artist. The course offers students the opportunity to work on stone, zinc plate and aluminium photo plate. The technique is taught in easy to follow stages on a one to one basis closely related to each student’s aims. Students will have the opportunity to work on several images in both black and white and colour, realising their own ideas based on sketches, studies and/or photographs. For those who love drawing, working on a stone is a must-have experience!
Colin Gale founded and now directs the Artichoke Print Workshop, London’s leading open-access facility for Fine Art printmaking. Colin’s expertise is widely recognised and has resulted in many printmaking projects with artists including Tom Philips, Gary Hume and Terry Frost. As well as creating and exhibiting his own prints, Colin is a visiting lecturer at UCL, London College of Printing and Camberwell College of Art amongst others.
