This is quite an early date for a slate gravestone; these early slate gravestones use slate quarried at Swithland, near Loughborough, much in demand in the area for this purpose. The angel head design is local to the Vale of Belvoir, and they are known as "Belvoir Angels". Listed Grade II.

Dist:0.3km<br/>These are very early examples of slate gravestones, and show a style that is specific to the Vale of Belvoir. It's clear that the engraver didn't draft out the text in advance, as words and dates are occasionally slotted in apparently as afterthoughts. Listed Grade II.
