![Dist:0.3km<br/>The pub sign is attached to the front wall, at first floor level. Previously the building had been used as the village store, and its front windows remain and still carry some advertising. At the bottom left can be seen an advertisement for Brooke Bond Bon, a coffee and chickory essence, though they are best known for tea. On the right is what was a well-known advertising slogan, "Players Please", for the Players brand of cigarette.
When so many pubs are closing, this was a fairly rare example of a pub being opened in the 21st century. Most of these have been town centre drinking palaces aimed at young people, or pubs on new housing estates, but The Apple Tree is very different to these.

![Dist:0.3km<br/>This was for a long time the village store. It retains the windows at the front, which the store had, and even some of the advertisements are still there. However, in August 2003, the premises were opened as a pub and café bar. Under the present landlord, it is described as a bar and bistro, but essentially it remains a pub which also serves food.
Interestingly the building was originally constructed as a pub, although possibly this is not the original building. It does apparently still have 16th century stone cellars.
