The building under the footbridge is the home of "The News", Portsmouth's evening newspaper. This junction is one of the three main routes onto Portsea Island.

This muddy creek, seen at low tide, is all that makes Portsmouth an island. The A27 trunk Road can be seen to the left. It is here that it becomes the M27.[[2622523]]

For a several hundred years the bridge here was the only bridge onto Portsea Island, the moat beyond forms part of the ancient defences of Portsmouth, and is what makes Portsea an island.

This is all that is left of Portsbridge. Which was once the only road onto Portsea Island (Portsmouth). It is now part of a car park.

This narrow stretch of water adjacent to the M27 is what makes Portsmouth an island. This is the view at high tide. Not quite as pleasant at low tide.[[761762]]
