Dist:0.2km<br/>Originally a drovers inn built around 1750 but it is not recorded how the Rat Inn came by what must surely be one of the oddest names for an Inn in Britain. The locals offer several interesting theories: some say that it was a regular meeting place for all the local rat catchers; others say that the largest rat ever seen was caught here. Dist:0.3km<br/>Anick Grange from the east end of Anick village. The back road (Corchester Lane) between Hexham and Corbridge runs just beyond, with the main A69 road (where two lorries are visible) a little further away. A reach of River Tyne can be seen in the floor of the valley with the valley of the tributary Devil's Water on the far side. Dipton Wood occupies the hilltop to the left. In the foreground, a very sick rabbit (myxamatosed?).
