Dist:0.1km<br/>Nether Court was built in 1883 by Henry Tubbs a wealthy Victorian businessman. The grand internal sweeping staircase is all wood and the whole house has decorative Beavers favoured by Henry Tubbs. He died in 1917, and in 1929 the house and extensive grounds were turned into the Finchley Golf Club, which is still thriving today.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Local band, Another Fine Mesh, perform at Frith Grange scout camp for guests at a private function. They can normally be seen in pubs around the Barnet - St. Albans area, playing a mix of rock covers from the 1960's to 1990's. Another of the scout huts on the site can be seen behind the temporary marquee.

Dist:0.2km<br/>The tent pitching area with fire pit, left foreground. The site plays host to all age groups within the scouting movement, from beavers upwards. A group of children play football between two temporary goals, erected on site for a private function.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Female Mallard ducks accompanied by a Domesticated Duck swim on a pond beside Dollis Brook. The pond is around 10 feet above the brook and is fed by run off from the adjacent Finchley Golf Course. It was probably constructed as an ornamental lake, but is now a nature reserve.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The limb of an Oak provides support for rope swings beside Dollis Brook. The scene is peaceful now - the children have gone back to school for the autumn term.

Dist:0.3km<br/>On the Dollis Valley Green Walk - this bridge is a full road width and is located at the end of a tree lined avenue that extends from the northwest end of Eversleigh Road and used to continue on to Nethercourt on the adjacent Finchley Golf Course (the route is now blocked by security fencing). Railings have been added, a footpath width apart, to prevent walkers falling over the low parapet.

Dist:0.4km<br/>Nether court had extensive grounds created by Henry Tubbs,as he was a Canadian timber magnate the grounds have a fantastic selection of trees of the world. These have been improved and enhanced by the golf club.

Dist:0.4km<br/>Dollis Brook eventually becomes the River Brent, at its confluence with Mutton Brook, a few kilometres further downstream. There is quite a bizarre illusion here, to the photographer at least, insofar as the water on the left edge of the brook appears to be higher than the dry land beyond...

Dist:0.4km<br/>This viaduct, of which this is a view through nine of the pierced supports is at the bottom of Dollis Rd , Finchley and is on the line between Mill Hill East and Finchley central. It carries the line over the brook and Dollis Rd.

Dist:0.4km<br/>Currently approaching its 150th anniversary the 13 arch viaduct stands as testimony to the skills of the architects, engineers and navvies who designed and built it in the 1860s to take the then new Edgware, Highgate and London Railway over the valley of the Dollis Brook, and linking its Finchley and Edgware stations. By the time that the viaduct was opened for use in 1867, the original railway company had been taken over by the Great Northern Railway. Today it is in use solely to carry the single track spur of the Northern Line of the Underground from Finchley Central to Mill Hill East. There is a comprehensive Wikipedia article on the viaduct here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dollis_Brook_Viaduct which tells us that at its highest point it is nearly 60 feet, or about 18 metres, above the ground, making it the highest such point on the London Underground network.
