Dist:0.7km north<br/>This photograph was taken with a 6x6 Yashicamat, and the original reveals a wealth of detail which may not be apparent on the Geograph web site. Both of the gentlemen in the canoe are well past their first flush of youth. One has a bottle of beer to his lips, while the other wears an inane grin suggesting that he has already imbibed a quantity of the same liquid. Meanwhile the children on the towpath are much amused by the whole affair.

Dist:0.9km north<br/>The 'uphill' boatman will breathe a sigh of relief as he clears Norwood Top Lock, for several miles of lock-free cruising now lie in front of him, with the prospect of some pleasant countryside not too far away.
