Dist:0.6km<br/>The road through the valley as it passes Fairhaven Cottages. Hope there is enough here and in other photos is this square to tempt you to visit St.Catherine's Valley, it gets better as it goes up and this is near the bottom. The road ends near Nimlet on the A46.

Dist:0.6km<br/>The River Avon is prominent to the right and the A363 climbs the hill beyond on its way to Bradford on Avon. We have a glimpse of Batheaston to the left and a good look at Bathford further on. The Batheaston Bypass and the main rail line between Bristol, Bath and Paddington run side by side across the middle of the picture though both can hardly be seen.

Dist:0.6km<br/>This church was remodelled by John Pinch the younger in the 19th century and re-ordered after a fire in the 1990s. For many years it was the Wednesday night rehearsal venue of the Chantry Singers of Bath.

Dist:0.7km<br/>Present thinking is that these hilltop settlements were more in the nature of towns and villages than positions of defence against invaders. The area enclosed by the ramparts was usually large enough to hold a number of semi permanent dwellings and possibly some livestock, whereas a smaller area would have been much easier to defend.

Dist:0.7km<br/>The appearance of these animals is a little daunting but they are usually quite timid. The view beyond is toward Kingsdown while Box is hidden in the valley.
