![Dist:0.1km<br/>The tram had just passed Derby Road, and was about to pass the Hilton Hotel. This English Electric Railcoach, as it was known, was built in 1935 and dutifully served Blackpool for almost 70 years, until it was withdrawn in 2004. It was then placed in the reserve fleet but not further used.
In November 2008, the tram was acquired by the Lancastrian Transport Trust for preservation. They will be reverting to the original fleet number of 279, as well as converting it back to how it looked in the 1930's. This is quite a substantial task, and includes replacing both ends with the original style of cab end. The flat ends shown in this photo were added at a much later date.
