Dist:0.7km<br/>According to the county club's own description, it was formed for the benefit of local residents in the 1920s, there presumably being no pub in existence. At the time Southgate was a peaceful agricultural area but during the 1950s sailors and dockers from Swansea started to frequent the club which as a result became known as The Bucket of Blood. All seems quiet again now and the club promotes itself as a friendly family venue for locals and visitors.

Dist:0.7km<br/>The club was founded in 1908 although golf was played here in the 1890s. The course is one of the most spectacular in the UK and attracts visiting players from overseas.

Dist:0.9km<br/>Unusual hazards on a golf course are the remains of Pennard castle standing right on the edge of the valley, and a little distance away is this ruined mediaeval church which, like the castle and the settlement around it, was overwhelmed by wind-blown sand and was last used in 1532.

Dist:1.0km<br/>An ideal site for a castle, the remains of the one at Pennard overlooks the magnificent views of Three Cliffs Bay. The castle is believed to date back to the 14th Century although there may have been earlier settlements on the site previous to that.
