Emmaus Bristol is part of a worldwide movement of communities of formerly homeless people who support themselves by working in a business collecting donations of unwanted furniture and household goods and selling them to the public. The building shown contains the showroom, warehouse and workshops. The police are present as the Community is about to receive a visit from Emmaus UK's Royal Patron, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.

Toward the City Docks. Visited this spot in the late 1940's early 50's, in those days it was without fishermen, any worm cast into the canal would have jumped out again PDQ. At that time the cut contained so much industrial and human waste the poor worm would have been lucky to break the surface.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Offices built for John Lysaght's works in Silverthorne Lane. Late 19th century Grade 2* Listed Building in the 'Ruritanian Romanesque' style. The works specialised in galvanising and corrugating steel for the Australian export market and the fabrication of oil drums. Fabrications were provided for the SS Great Britain and Clifton Suspension Bridge. The current owner's Garrard Hassan restored the building in 2000 from a derelict condition.
