No animals were seen around any of the sheds and they may not be in use currently but surely animal housing can be their only possible purpose.

It was built for a Northumbrian family on the site of an original 13th Century hall. The building was completed in 1902 with major renovation in 1953." Dist:0.6km<br/>This is a significant device with a Crowther type vertical steam engine driving a house-built thrashing machine to Meikle's design. Built about 1835-1840 and last used during World War One. It is now in store at Beamish. Hunday was a magnificent museum and is sadly missed.

Dist:0.6km<br/>This site opened in 1979 but closed many years ago and took a lot of tracking down. I think the position is close - based on the map in the guide book and on locating a circular building on the aerial photo that corresponded to a horse gin house. This engine was used a tannery in Whitehaven and is thought to be by Tulk & Ley of Whitehavewn in c1850. It is now at Hollycombe in Hampshire. This was seen on part of a two week trip between university and my first job and most nights were spent in the back of an Astra estate.
