Dist:0.6km<br/>This entrance and an associated trackway leads to the Butts (target area) that formed part of a former Rifle Range also located within this square. The latter was utilised during WWII and possibly later. The building, with associated hardstanding area, is of the style and vintage of Army construction and so was presumably associated with the Rifle Range, perhaps as a store; the iron gates look a little more elaborate in styling.

Dist:0.6km<br/>In the dip shown here a few hundred metres south of Newton Bromswold, the Byway to Knotting crosses a stream that flows onward through nearby Yelden village and becomes the River Till.

Dist:0.6km<br/>The Swan is tucked away on a no-through road on the south-eastern edge of the hamlet of Newton Bromswold. The lane to the left leads to the church and behind camera is a rustic byway to the hamlet of Knotting. The lane ahead marks the county boundary between Northamptonshire on the left and Bedfordshire on the right.

Dist:0.7km<br/>The bridleway is along the edge of a recently harvested wheat field, and the round straw bales await collection. The River Til is hardly more than a ditch at this point.

Dist:0.9km<br/>The footbridge carries the public footpath that runs between Newton Bromswold and Rifle Range Farm at Yelden. The stream is the beginning of the River Till. On the far side a new kissing gate provides access over the sheep pastures below Newton Bromswold.

Dist:1.0km<br/>The footpath goes straight through the spinney. A World War 2 air-raid shelter can be seen on the left. It served the nearby Chelveston Airbase.
