Dist:0.1km<br/>St John's Church is the Newsome crossroads, where Newsome Road crosses High Lane / Jackroyd Lane. It was built after 1850, and the leanto aisle could well be early 20C. There is a large lych-gate at the crossroads.

Dist:0.2km<br/>This image is similar to "Path to Newsome from Hall Bower" by Stanley Walker but with snow. It was taken a bit nearer to Newsome, and there is a wall to the left of the path. The footpath was covered in 3 to 4 feet of hard-packed snow right to the top of the wall making walking hazardous. The path was well used by Hall Bower inhabitants going shopping or for a trolleybus in Newsome. Even in normal times only one car a week visited Hall Bower and Hall Bower Lane was unmade. The houses along part of Newsome Road South can be seen in the background to the left of the tree.
