Dist:0.4km<br/>This was a treatment works and is now a pumping station. This view is looking down a public footpath that crosses the infant River Ribble by the footbridge on the right and then climbs up Fox Clough.

Dist:0.5km<br/>This was taken from the footbridge below the dam of Holme Styes Reservoir, and shows the head of the river. Here Fox Clough meets the line of a former stream identified only by the caption alongside the township boundary on the 1850 six-inch map, through the reservoir which had already been constructed, "Old Course of Stream". This suggests that the watercourse was not named as a river above the confluence with Fox Clough. There was a footbridge here in 1850, but the present concrete bridge is of course a 20C replacement.

Dist:0.6km<br/>The lesser-known River Ribble, that is, the Yorkshire one (a minor tributary of the Holme) rather than the Lancashire one. The footpath from Greave Road descends the steep field on the east side of the river, crosses it by a footbridge and turns left to ascend more gently into the woods on the west bank. The body of water on the left is the settling pond of the redundant treatment works (now demolished) - see [[203272]].
