Dist:0.4km<br/>This section of the A367 follows the course of the Fosse Way. The Romans were fanatics for building their roads straight, very commendable but sometimes they made things difficult for themselves. At Clandown the roman road plunges into a valley, up the other side, across a very short plateau then back into the same valley and up the other side again, four very steep hills for the price of two. Post medieval road builders were more sensible, at least on this occasion, and followed the valley on an easier gradient.

Dist:0.6km<br/>The pond, one of several in the valley below Woodborough House, extends into [[ST6955]]. Seen from a bridge on the path from White Wicket Farm to Tyning.

Dist:0.7km<br/>A field beside a layby on the A367 as it runs along a stretch of the Roman road. On the extreme right is the edge of a wooded tumulus, which straddles the easting gridline. The prominent wood is a mile away in ST7056 and ST7055, by Braysdown Yard.

Dist:0.7km<br/>Pop into the bakers for a cheese roll for elevenses, into the hairdressers for a shampoo & set (I should be so lucky!) then to Ken's Fish Bar for lunch. Life is good in Peasedown.
