Dist:0.3km north<br/>When Heathrow was a pretty little airport with just three terminals, the site now occupied by Terminal Four housed a variety of maintenance hangars and cargo sheds. The hangars in this picture were used by Hunting-Clan. Earlier pictures show the whole name, but when the company renamed itself Hunting, they just took the 'Clan' off the end, explaining why the hangar looks a bit lop-sided. The aircraft is an Alitalia Boeing 727, I-DIRP.

Dist:0.6km west<br/>Was lucky enough to fly on one of the last Concorde flights to JFK. On this particular evening the plane developed a hydraulic fault before take off. We were bused back to the lounge while they spent 3 hours fixing the problem(they "borrowed" another hydraulic pump from another plane...) Other point of note is that Richard Quest from CNN was on the flight, filming a news segment and generally taking over the place...

Dist:0.7km west<br/>Looking North West, you can see the outline of Terminal 5 (a.k.a. "The Big Shed") on the left and the new control tower on the right. The tower is 85m high, and can be seen not only from nearby motorways, but on a fine day all the way from Box Hill ( [[TQ1751]] [[TQ1752]] ) twenty miles away.
