Dist:0.3km<br/>The tower is 14th century with a brick top added in 1834, which is also when the chancel was added. The rest of the church is perpendicular. Inside the church there is an original painting by John Constable showing Christ blessing bread and wine.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The building was originally built in the 15th Century, although the frontage was changed in 1789 to give a tunnel entrance wide enough for a carriage to pass through for the profitable coaching trade.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Unfortunately, the outside of some parts of the building have been cement-rendered and not properly maintained. Restoration has been carried out on a tight budget and the overall effect is a scruffy looking church. Enlarged on the strength of the wool trade in the 15th century it is quite a large edifice. The 14th century tower, with its easily recognisable modest spire, is almost all original. Inside the nave, is the re-cut octagonal font and a sturdy parish chest. The clerestory’s interior is much smarter, spilling in light from its multitude of windows. A large bier stands forlorn below the Royal Arms of King William. Mounted into a frame and hanging on the aisle wall are the eight panels of the old rood screen. Behind the altar is a painting by John Constable.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Nayland is full of fine listed buildings, but this one, Alston Court, is probably the most interesting. It dates from the 15th century and built around a courtyard. Most of the front, as seen in the picture, is plastered but many parts of the building that face the courtyard show exposed timbers with brick-nogging.
