Dist:0.8km<br/>The Mores is a woodland trust site http://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/en/our-woods/Pages/about-this-wood.aspx?wood=4282 it is secondary woodland in that until the 1700’s it was open heath. The many of the mature oaks that had grown up were cut for timber just after WW2.

Dist:0.8km<br/>It wasn’t until I found myself trapped by a stream on two sides that I realised the footpath runs to the north of the stream. There had been a track here once judging by the hidden wheel ruts I kept tripping up on! When I did an about turn I discovered a sign saying “no entry no footpath”. Humm why couldn’t the farmer have put a handy way-mark at the other end of the path? the field at the other end had been ploughed up to obliterate any sign of a right of way.

Dist:0.8km<br/>The Black Mill (aka Princes Gate Mill) is at the Junction of Wheelers Lane, Navestock Side and Princes Rd. There does not appear to be any evidence of running water so I assume this was an early power mill, its appearance as not changed much in a long time see http://viewfinder.english-heritage.org.uk/search/comments.aspx?uid=16482
