![Dist:1.0km east<br/>This leafy byway skirts the northern and western perimeter of Eltham Palace, seen here as it departs from the main approach to the palace named Court Yard (see [[[1032009]]]). At this point it is a tarmacced lane, but a little further on it becomes a simple path. King John's Walk forms part of the Capital Ring, and a signpost near the entrance to the palace indicates that it is 5½ miles to Buckingham Palace by this route - surprisingly close I thought.
The half-timbered cream & brown building part of which can be seen on the right of the image is part of a magnificent range of C16th buildings at this end of the Court Yard (or Courtyard).
