Winchester air man commemorated on Dutch monument
Leeuwarden / The Netherlands, 28th May 2010
Re: Leslie Cyril Green (Royal Air Force 755095)
Dear Madam / Sir,
Since the early seventies our foundation, the “Stichting Missing Airmen Memorial Foundation” has taken an interest in the history of the air war over the Northern part of the Netherlands during World War II. In co-operation with the and the local “Resistance Museum” we aim to gather as much information as possible about the aircraft-crashes and their aftermath, in order to make a historically correct reconstruction of the events. Over the years, our research brought us in contact with many former airmen, pilot-helpers and other researchers all over the world. In some cases we have been able to clear up the fate of pilots who were reported missing in action. On a few occasions we also succeeded in returning recovered personal items from the flyers to their families.
In the early hours of 8th November 1941 Wellington X9976 of No. 75 Squadron Royal New Zealand was attacked by the German night fighter ace Helmut Lent. After a short aerial combat the bomber caught fire and eventually crashed near Akkrum, a village 15 miles South of the town of Leeuwarden. The complete crew, three from New Zealand and three from England, were killed. Seven years after the war their mortal remains were found in the wreckage. They all were buried at Bergen Op Zoom.
On the 8th November 2010 a monument will be unveiled near the crash site to commemorate to unfortunate crew of the bomber. This is the reason, that we are looking for information about Leslie Cyril Green. He was the son of William and Rose Green and born in the second quarter of 1920. Leslie Cyril had two brothers, Leonard and Ronald. Leonard was born in the first quarter of 1916 and Ronald in the fourth quarter of 1922. The father of the three brothers died in the fourth quarter of 1982. The last know address of the family was in Winchester. As we do not know much about them, we will be very pleased if you could assist us tracing relatives. Any other help also will be very much appreciated.
We thank you in advance for your co-operation and look forward to your reply.
Kind regards,
Douwe S. Drijver.

Energy Effeiciency - Eco Kitchens
Whilst installing a new kitchen in Southampton the customer was complaining about their high utility bills. We recommended that while the new kitchen was being fitted that a insinkerator Boiling water tap was installed.
The boiling water tap costs on average 3p per day to run and produces water at 87 degrees! Therefore, eradicating the need or use of a kettle, which by comparison uses far more energy and is wasteful with left over water and inefficient designs.
It is worth considering where possible to make changes like this. It will definately serve those individuals well in the future as domestic bill continue to rise.
