An ancient cross-roads. The road in the picture was from Leeds to Brighouse, but has been cut off by the M62. The road across is from Wakefield to Halifax.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Built in 1909 and extended later. It used to have a public bath in the cellar. A brick building with a nicely detailed stone front.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Looking towards Halifax Road. The lane was originally just a cart track to Buttershaw Farm. This end was considered dangerous and closed to traffic.

Dist:0.2km<br/>This might owe its existence to a Copperas works over the road. This was shown on the 1850 OS with a pond where the playground is, and it is possible that waste was tipped on the site, inhibiting housing development.
