Dist:0.3km<br/>For most of its route, the Midland Metro Birmingham - Wolverhampton service runs along the alignment of a former railway line. Along this section it mainly uses rails attached to sleepers, as can be seen in this view. Shortly after passing this point the trams run in the road, mixing with other road traffic. [[1471364]].

Dist:0.3km<br/>The tram is turning right off Bilston Road, onto the section using the former railway line to Birmingham. This view was taken shortly after the line opened in 1999. Recently the trams have been given a new livery. [[1471353]].

Dist:0.3km<br/>The former GWR mainline looking towards Wolverhampton. Taken from the A41 road bridge. 1978. Remaining passenger services had ceased in 1972, although the line beyond this point (behind the camera) has been brought back into use as the Midland Metro, trams gaining access to the trackbed via a curve from the Bilston road out of picture to the left at this point. The bridge in the distance carries Sutherland Avenue.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The Midland Metro runs just one light rail line, between Birmingham Snow Hill railway station and the centre of Wolverhampton. The majority of it follows a former railway line between the two places, but on the approach to Wolverhampton it changes into a traditional street running tramway. This view shows tram 07 about to leave the former railway line section and enter Bilston Road. This was photographed a few weeks after the line opened in 1999.
