The elegant bowstring bridge was installed to provide direct access to the park. This section of motorway ws the first in the UK to permit use of the hard shoulder (emergency lane) at times of congestion, access being permitted by use of signs on the overhead gantries. At this junction the hard shoulder has been replaced by a lane dedicated to traffic using the A34 exit.

Dist:0.2km<br/>The Stratford Road approaching the junction with the M42 (to the right behind the photographer). As the signs show, this is an area of business parks and through the trees can be seen some of the out-of-town retail park in the adjacent square.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Somewhat oddly, the sole exit from the complex debouches onto the A3400 rather than directly onto the M42 roundabout. This means inherent traffic flow conflicts at the main roundabout entering the park and the M42 roundabout too. Very odd.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Although not apparent from the OS maps, construction of the Blythe Valley Park complex led to a second bridge being constructed on the southern side of the M42 junction to provide a dedicated access route. From the left, driver's options are to enter the M42 southbound, enter the business park (no right turn beyond the bridge) or take any other route.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Bizarrely, there is no access to Blythe Valley Park from the A3400 and all traffic from the park must exit here, thus guaranteeing traffic flow conflicts here and extra traffic at the M42/A34/A3400 roundabout ahead. Very odd.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Northbound, approaching the landmark road bridge to Blythe Valley business park. Just beyond it is the exit for Junction 4 for the A34, Monkspath, Shirley and Birmingham.
