This one climbs 220m over a linear distance of about 520m, giving a gradient of roughly 1 : 2.4 Having walked up it, it's hard to see any horse taking kindly to being asked to carry a rider up there.

Dist:0.7km<br/>This is one of the less frequented valleys on the eastern side of the Long Mynd, welcoming considerably fewer visitors than the similarly-sized Cardingmill Valley a few miles further north. A bridleway travels its full length.

Dist:0.8km<br/>The Packetstone is a small outcrop of rock on the ridge at an altitude of 405m (1330 feet) just SE of Minton Hill. Judging by the white stains, it's used as a perch and lookout by the local birds of prey. In the background, above Chester's head, is the ridge of Synalds, which leads up to the Midland Gliding Club's premises on the south end of the Long Mynd. The buildings are in amongst the trees on the skyline, middle right.
