Milton Street Homepage


A straggling hamlet that lies along the lane to Milton Court from which it derives its name. Viewed from the point when the bridleway to Burlough Castle leaves the lane.

The name of the field according to Arlington's 1843 tithe map that has been planted within the last thirty years as my pathfinder map from 1982 has this marked down as a field. The footpath from the Sussex Ox runs around the western and northern edges of wood though there are other tracks that cut across it. The footpath heading north joins a bridleway near the ruins of New Barn.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Now little more than ruins. Perhaps, as the name suggests this was one of the barns constructed with material from the ruined walls of nearby [[2441180]]. The name ceases to be marked on the map from the 1970s. See also [[936119]] and [[2441225]].
