Dist:0.9km<br/>Each of the villages between Bourne and Heckington, a distance of some 15 miles, almost without exception has a road leading out onto the fen named after its village and terminating at the South Forty Foot Drain. These roads are often straight, apart from double-sharp bends to keep them heading in the same direction. The road eastwards out of Dowsby on to Dowsby Fen is an exception as it crosses the South Forty Foot Drain and continues on to Gosberton. This scene, just outside the village of Dowsby, is typical fenland. The most noticeable feature is often the skies as here. This was a day of sunshine and heavy showers - the clouds in the distance promise more rain.

Dist:1.0km east<br/>Previously named Cobshorne Farm but renamed by the current owners after renovation. The farm buildings to the rear are owned and still in use by the neighbouring farmer. The name "Wildbore" I believe is derived from the borehole on the property that serves the dwelling and the needs of the neighbouring farm.

This is a typical fenland scene with a flat landscape, large fields, often isolated trees and very isolated farms. The most noticeable feature is often the skies as here. This was a day of sunshine and heavy showers - hence the water at the side of the road and towering clouds in the distance promising more rain.

Dist:1.2km northeast<br/>This natural stream forms part of the extensive drainage system in the Fens. This view is looking downstream towards Pointon Fen and South Forty Foot Drain ([[215184]]) into which it flows in [[TF1630]]. The source is in Temple Wood, [[407563]]. A small plywood obstruction has been placed in the channel diverting the water to one side and causing a small eddy. For what purpose I have no idea.

Dist:1.2km south<br/>St Andrew's church, originating from the 12th century, was mostly rebuilt and enlarged in 1864, although Norman fragments remain as part of the fabric. A recumbent effigy of Etheldreda Rigdon, and six brasses to the Burrell family from 1682 lie in the vestry. Built into the outer wall of the south aisle are parts of a Saxon cross.
