Dist:0.4km north<br/>This is the southbound busway in the middle of Scott Hall Road by the Potternewton Lane roundabout. Leeds has been a pioneer of guided busways, this one has been in operation since 1995. The buses which use them have small horizontally mounted guide wheels just ahead of the front wheels. The guide wheels run along the kerbs of the busway, effectively steering in a channel only slightly wider than the bus. Other traffic can't use the busway. As a bus approaches the end of the busway (in this case just behind the camera) the traffic lights change in its favour to allow it to 'leapfrog' the other traffic. With the cancellation of the Leeds Supertram project, Leeds is likely to get more busways like this.

Dist:0.6km east<br/>This trig point (TP5850) has been hidden by bushes in the central reservation of Scott Hall Road. I only noticed it for the first time a few weeks ago, after the bushes were removed.
