This is the start of the riverside footpath from Castleford to Allerton Bywater via the Boat Inn. You'd need a boat for the journey on this occasion after another summer flood.

Dist:0.2km<br/>The bridge takes the A656 north to the M1 at Garforth. The crewman on the bows of Eskdale will keep a lookout at the junction ahead, this is a very tight turn. At the time this photo was taken they were probably heading to Leeds for unloading. Since then a new wharf has been built near Allerton Bywater.
