Dist:0.5km<br/>In the north-western section of the forest a clear path runs through a more open area, flanked by light mixed woodland. A less significant path heads north to the right.

Dist:0.5km<br/>Someone has made a bit of a feature of this entrance, with a simple wooden construction but the two specific pieces of wood must have been hard to find.

Dist:0.5km<br/>Parkhurst Forest is managed by the Forestry Commission. Here, information is given about work in the north-west section of the forest, and the access restrictions in place under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act. The sign is still up 9 days after the work finished.

Dist:0.6km<br/>Someone has taken the opportunity of a cut tree stump to advertise their website. If you can read it good luck to you, but the website is not very interesting.

Dist:0.6km<br/>At the junction of three major paths, is a convenient seat. Just beyond can be seen a gateway into the open area shown on the map. This is not part of the forest open access land but is a nature reserve with limited access.

Dist:0.7km<br/>A convenient bench at the junction of three tracks in the middle of Parkhurst Forest made for a nice lunch stop. Most of the forest is open access land, with very clear paths accurately marked on the 1:25K map. The 1:50K map does not mark them all but gives a better indication of their importance.

Dist:0.7km<br/>From the west a footpath runs directly into the north-western edge of Parkhurst Forest, although the first section is not open access land. The hedgerow on the right was excellent for blackberries.

Dist:0.9km<br/>Here the footpath leaves the road by the hamlet of Little Whitehouse, heading for Parkhurst Forest. The 1:50K map is inaccurate in showing this path in the next square north. The 1:25K map shows this correctly following the field boundary to the right.

Dist:0.9km<br/>This footpath runs through an attractive avenue of trees next to Whitehouse Farm, towards Porchfield.

Dist:1.0km<br/>Clancy Docrwa on behalf of Southern Water were installing a new water main. There were temporary traffic lights from here to the cars in the distance, with access for each of the houses of the hamlet of Little Whitehouse on the right.

Dist:1.1km east<br/>On of the major tracks through the forest, heading west to east. The difference in status is clearly shown on the 1:50K map but not on the 1:25K map.

Dist:1.1km east<br/>Not all the paths are dry underfoot. This one follows a stream, which sometimes becomes part of the path.
