Dist:0.2km<br/>Opposite view of [[62637]] with Darp Lane in the foreground, Langtye Lane continuing straight ahead, then Mill Lane to the left heading to Ripe, and Firle Road going south tot he A27. Darp Lane and Langtye Lane are at least Roman in origin and could be much older.

Near the electricity pylon on the right was the site of the former Ripe Windmill which was first mentioned on a map of 1724 and seems to have ended service sometime towards the end of the 19th century as it is marked on the OS map of 1878 but not the one of 1899.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The name of the house on Darp Lane which was known as Luxford Farm until the first part of the 20th century when it became known as its current name. Lime Barnett itself has much older origin dating back to the 14th century and was the name of the field on which the original farm was built with the second word seemingly being a derivation of 'berner' or burner, therefore giving an indication that this was a field where lime burning occurred. The dogs in the garden were giving me a noisy welcome.

The treeline on the left marks the course of Honey Lane an overgrown former field access lane whose antiquity can be gleaned by the fact that it also forms the parish boundary between Ripe and Selmeston. The South Downs and Firle Beacon provide the backdrop.
